Ten years of one audience
Md Sumon Howlader has worked online full time since 2014, years before a Bengali audience arrived on YouTube and Facebook in the numbers it has today. More than two thousand projects have passed through his hands since then, most of them short films and documentaries. That volume taught him what no one can teach a producer: what people stop for, and what they scroll past.
He founded Durbin Films in October 2021. The studio now runs its own YouTube channels with more than two and a half million subscribers between them, producing television dramas, web series, short films, documentaries, and brand work. Its drama has aired on television as well as online. He produces across the full slate, from choosing the story and setting the budget to final delivery.
Four months after the studio, he launched Durbin News, registered by the Press Information Department as an online news portal in July 2022. He is its Editor and Publisher. Its main Facebook page reaches around 7.6 million followers and more than 500 million views a month, making it one of the most followed news outlets in Bangladesh.
